| Mexican (probably) wall hanging or blanket $150 60" x 84" plus 7" in fringe on both ends, Around 60 years old Hand loomed Very substantial material, softer, and not as dense as a Navajo piece In researching this piece, I have found them called saltillos or serapes. Historically, many of them were made of a combination of linen and fine wool, often with one material being used for the warp and the other for the woof. From the hand of this piece, I would guess this is how it was woven, but cannot say with certainty. Brilliant, dazzling colours: predominating is green, with purples, roses, bright dark red, oranges to brown, cream white and black. Quality of material and workmanship is virtually unmatchable in today's market. Condition is excellent for both blanket and fringe. From late 1940s I found it as part of my mother's estate items long left unexplored. Has been in a cedar chest so is clean and undamaged by sunlight. Moving long distance so unused items must go.
